Almost farewell

Although we don’t leave for Hawaii until the morning of 8/11 – we did have our farewell party this past Saturday.  It was really fun, but also really exhausting.  Since everyone was coming to see us and say “goodbye,” there was definitely the pressure to “make the rounds” and try and talk to/see everyone.  This was not an easy task.  Instead of having good conversation with a handful of people…you end up having small talk (really small talk) with five handfuls of people.  Not exactly how I like to show appreciation for my friends coming.  Despite this, we had a wonderful turnout of our friends, and this was the first time we had one single gathering that included work friends, basketball friends, close friends, young and old.  We normally don’t mix it up like that.

The extra special bonus was Tera, Brian and Isabella.  I thought for sure they wouldn’t make it because 1) Isabella 2) Distance from house 3) Time of day – it was an evening/night party.  But not only were they the first guests to show up…they were the last to leave when we did!!  It was awesome.  Isabella was amazing – she let anyone hold her and didn’t cry or fuss much.  She was the hit of the party!  I was so happy they made it.
