Seoul seoul seoul cold!

Micah and I met up with our friends Naomi and Vann in Seoul to ring in the new year.   As expected, we froze!  But we had a great time!!  Although there was craziness everywhere, we actually managed to meet up with several of our friends and meet new ones too.

And unlike last year, Micah and I both made it well into the wee morning (does 4am count?) and nobody woke up with any facial contusions (a plus in my book).  We didn’t see the fireworks show because…well, we didn’t feel like waiting with thousands of others in the freeeeeeeezing cold.  And we didn’t do what many Koreans like to do for New Years…which is go to the top of a mountain and watch the first sunrise.  If you can understand how cold it was, then you’d make the same smart decision too. 🙂

SAM_0445We spent the rest of our time in Seoul hanging out with friends – new and old, eating delicious food we can’t get in Daegu (e.g. Greek and Mexican), oh…and going to a bar called Bungalow that has sand on the floors (like a warm sandy beach).  Which reminds me…we are leaving Jan. 21st for the beaches of Thailand!

Before leaving Seoul, we stumbled upon a foreign food market – in which I immediately purchased 1) Betty Crocker yellow cake mix 2) Chocolate frosting 3) Pure vanilla extract 4) Tomato soup and 5) Italian dressing.  Random?  Yes.  Expensive?  Yes.  Worth it?  Of course!

Wishing everyone the best year decade yet! 🙂

Great times! Good thing we didn’t do the mountain sunrise, haha. Have an awesome time in Thailand, and I’ll let you know the next time I come to Daegu!
