House hunters – Seattle style

So yes…we are back in Seattle!  Priority #1: see my sister, bro-in-law, and niece!

They so generously rented the most amazing beach house for us all to stay in for the few days we’d be spending together.  It’s been so fun to play with Isabella (who was only 3 months old when we left for Korea…and now she is 15 months!)

But as soon as we get in…my sister and family are getting out.  They are on their way to Alaska.  (But Alaska is a lot closer to Seattle than Korea).

In addition to fam time, Micah and I spent a good part of the day doing some major apartment hunting.  We did quite a bit of research upfront so we didn’t waste time looking at junk.  And after about 5 or 6 places, we felt we had it narrowed down to a couple (although none was a clear winner because of this or that reason).  But the last place we checked out that day…a townhouse a few miles north of downtown Seattle…was the winner!

We were the first ones to view the unit at the open house and immediately, we knew we liked it.  First of all, it’s a townhouse – not an apartment or condo.  It comes with a garage, albeit a garage so tiny and impossible to navigate that we wouldn’t couldn’t even park a car in there (but perfect for storage and the “Tanaka home gym.")  It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.  Also, there’s a big open kitchen that connects to the living room/dining room…with hardwood floors.  And the icing on top…the rent was the cheapest of all of the places we had looked at all day.  Sorry – no pictures, but will share soon.

So we filled out our rental application and paid our credit check fee (and good thing because we were told there were several people who wanted the place too).  The next day, we found out we got the place…and could move in even earlier than the listing had posted.

Yay!!!  We are really excited about the place and ecstatic we found something so quickly…that allows us to move in so quickly.  Now, on to the “fun” part – moving. 😦
