Phone books go away!

Seriously, when is the last time you’ve looked in an actual phone book?  Not an online phone book, but rather that huge 5 pound mammoth that we actually used to rely on quite heavily (hee hee) not that many years ago.

Given that I’m completely reliant on the internet to look up companies and find contact info – I hate receiving the paper phone book/yellow pages.  It’s a huge waste of paper.

Upon delivery of this paper-sucker-upper on our doorstep, I immediately groan (because again, it’s such a waste), and then I immediately throw it into the recycling.  I don’t use it…and haven’t in at least seven or eight years.

So I was quite excited today to sign up with Catalog Choice.  This service, in association with the City of Seattle, gives residents the ability to opt out of all phone book deliveries.  The service as a whole promotes opting-out of other junk mail lists as well.

Finally!

It’s a growing movement – and hopefully it comes to your city too.  And if you are a Seattle-lite – what are you waiting for?
